How do I set up or modify direct deposit as a full-time or student employee?

Faculty, staff, student workers, and other employees of Illinois State University can log in to iPeople to sign up for or make changes to direct deposit.

Before You Begin

By setting up direct deposit, you are allowing Illinois State University to directly deposit money from your paycheck into your bank account. Faculty, staff, student workers, and other employees can set up direct deposit of paychecks in iPeople.

Students can also set up direct deposit for student account refunds in iCampus. Student account refunds include things like financial aid and over-payments. For more information, refer to 1588: How do I set up or modify direct deposit for my student account?.

Direct Deposit for Paychecks

To set up or make changes to direct deposit for your paycheck, do the following:

  1. Go to https://tools.illinoisstate.edu/ and log in.
  2. Click iPeople (PeopleSoft HCM) under Human Resources.
  3. Click Self Service from the menu on the left.
  4. Click Direct Deposit under Payroll and Compensation. 
  5. Complete the form to set up or modify your direct deposit.
    • Choose Balance to have your entire paycheck deposited into the account you specified.
    • Choose Amount or Percent to have a portion of your paycheck deposited into the account(s) you specified. If you choose to only have part of your paycheck handled as a direct deposit, the remainder will be available in the form of a check, which you can pick up at the Student Accounts building. All employees (not just student workers) pick up paychecks at Student Accounts.  
  6. When you are done, click Save.

Your direct deposit is now set up.
