Accessing Exchange on Kindle Fire

You can either use Outlook Web App (OWA) on Kindle Fire or configure a dedicated app for Exchange access.

Before You Begin

Kindle Fire includes an Email app which can be used to check and send email on the University's IMAP mail server. However, this app does not support Exchange.

This article discusses a couple of options for accessing Exchange on Kindle Fire.

Outlook Web App (OWA)

You can access your Exchange email and calendar on Kindle Fire through Outlook Web App (OWA). This option is available through your web browser.

To access OWA on Kindle Fire, do the following:

  1. From the home screen, press Web on the menu bar at the top of the screen.
  2. Enter owa.illinoisstate.edu in the address bar.
  3. Log in with your ULID and password.

You can now access your Exchange email and calendar.

Exchange App

If you prefer to use an app to access your Exchange email and calendar, you might be able to find one through the app store.

The University Computer Help Desk does not support third-party apps on Kindle Fire, but you can use the following settings to attempt to configure Exchange access on your own.

To attempt to configure Exchange access on your own, use the following settings:

  • Your email address is yourULID@ilstu.edu.
  • Your Exchange user ID or username is your ULID.
  • It is not necessary to provide a domain.
  • The server address is owa.illinoisstate.edu.
  • The server uses SSL (always).
  • The server is Exchange 2007.

Please note that the only officially supported method for accessing Exchange on Kindle Fire is through OWA, as described above.
