Switching between Full Exchange and Exchange Calendar Only
If you have access to Exchange, you can choose to be a Full Exchange member of an Exchange Calendar Only member.
Before You Begin
Faculty and staff at Illinois State University are eligible to access the campus Exchange system. There are two options for accessing Exchange at the University.
- Full Exchange - You use Exchange for both email and calendar.
- Exchange Calendar Only - You use Exchange for calendar and the central IMAP mail server for email.
You can switch between these options through ULID Account Management on the University Computer Help Desk website.
Important: Before making a change to your Exchange access, consult with your department's technical support staff. Your technical support staff might have determined the best solution for your area and might require you to use one option or the other.
Email Forwarding
If you have an email forward set, you must remove it before you can switch to Full Exchange. Conversely, if you are set for Full Exchange, you cannot set an email forward until you switch to Exchange Calendar Only.

- On the following page, your current Exchange configuration is displayed. You should see a message that says either, "You are an Exchange Calendar Only member." or "You are a Full Exchange member."
- To switch your Exchange access, put a check mark in the box.
- If you are currently an Exchange Calendar Only member, this box will be labeled Set my account to Full Exchange.

Important: If you switch from Exchange Calendar Only to Full Exchange, you need to remove the "Calendar Only" rule from Outlook or Outlook Web App (OWA). Failure to remove this rule will prevent you from receiving new emails in your Exchange Inbox.
