Resetting a password for a DLID account
DLID (Departmental Login ID) accounts are university accounts similar to ULID accounts.
Before You Begin
A DLID account is different than a ULID account, and resetting the password for a DLID account is different from resetting or changing the password on a ULID account.
Passwords on DLID Accounts
When a DLID account is created, a password for that account is created. The user of the DLID account is typically informed as to what the password is.
Passwords on DLID accounts do not follow the standard password change policy, and users of DLID accounts are not required to change the passwords for those accounts every 60 days as is required for ULID accounts.
Resetting a Password for a DLID Account
If the user of a DLID account is unable to log in using the account's password or if the password has been forgotten, a password reset can be requested. The technical support unit responsible for creating the DLID account should be contacted to perform the password reset.
Determine Technical Support Unit
To determine the appropriate technical support unit to contact to request a DLID account password reset, inspect the account name. The acronym for the technical support unit that manages the DLID account is included in the account name.
For example, Reggie Redbird uses a DLID account named cis_rrredbi. The unit responsible for this account is "cis" or Computer Infrastructure Support.

This is not a comprehensive list and not all DLIDs conform to naming conventions.
If you are unable to determine the technical support unit responsible for managing a DLID account, contact the Help Desk at 309-438-4357 or helpdesk@ilstu.edu. The Help Desk will create an Incident for your password reset request and will send it to CISS SYSTEMS. The system administrators will review the request and will either process it or forward it to the appropriate unit.
