Problems with calendar sharing in Entourage

In Entourage, you are unable to add a shared Exchange calendar or make changes to a shared calendar.

Problem

You are experiencing problems with calendar sharing in Entourage. These problems began in April 2011 after the Exchange environment at Illinois State University was upgraded from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010.

Please note that the issues described below only apply to Entourage users who are still on Exchange 2003. Once your account has been migrated to the new Exchange 2010 environment, you will no longer have this problem. Entourage does not work with Exchange 2010, and once your account is migrated, you will be required to use a different Exchange client.

Unable to Add New Shared Calendars

When attempting to add a newly shared calendar in Entourage, the calendar does not appear in your list of shared calendars. The calendar did not add properly, and you are not able to view the calendar.

Unable to Make Changes to Shared Calendars

You are a delegate or editor of a shared calendar. When you make changes to the shared calendar in Entourage, those changes are not made on the other person’s calendar. The changes appear to be made on your side, but do not appear on the other person’s calendar.

Solution

To fix either of these issues, do the following:

  1. Open Entourage.
  2. Click Tools > Accounts....
  3. Double-click on your Exchange account in the Accounts window.
  4. Under Server Information, replace the Exchange server: field information with https://syssrv30.ad.ilstu.edu/exchange.
  5. Make sure there is a check mark next to the option, This DAV service requires a secure connection (SSL).
  6. Click the Advanced tab.
  7. Under Public Folder settings, replace the information in the Public folders server: field with syssrv30.ad.ilstu.edu/public.
  8. Make sure there is a check mark next to the option, This DAV service requires a secure connection (SSL).
  9. Click OK.

After making this change, you can open shared calendars. If you are an editor or delegate, you can now make changes to shared calendars.

Existing Shared Calendars

If you already have one or more shared calendars in Entourage, you may receive errors connecting to Exchange after completing the steps above. These errors are typically generated if one or more of the existing shared calendars in Entourage are for users who have already been migrated to Exchange 2010. If this describes your situation, we recommend removing the shared calendar(s) for any users on Exchange 2010.
