How to clear your browser cache and cookies in Internet Explorer 9

Clearing the cache and cookies in Internet Explorer removes temporary Internet files accumulated by normal web browsing activity.

Each web browser stores temporary Internet files in its browser cache and cookies. If you are having problems accessing a certain website, you may resolve the problem by clearing your cache and cookies.

To clear your cache and cookies in Internet Explorer 9, do the following:

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Click the white Tools icon to the right of the address bar. This icon looks like a gear.
  3. Click Safety > Delete Browsing History.
  4. Make sure the box labeled, Preserve Favorites website data, is unchecked.
  5. Put a check mark next to each of the other items in the list. Then click Delete.
  6. Close Internet Explorer.

Your browser cache and cookies for Internet Explorer 9 have now been cleared.
