Configuring LDAP Directory Service Lookup in Mail for Mac OS X
Configure Mail to use the University's LDAP electronic people directory.
Before You Begin
Configure the Mac OS X Mail to use the University's LDAP people directory. You can then use Mail to search for people at Illinois State University.
Configure LDAP in Mail for Mac OS X
To configure Mail in Mac OS X to use Illinois State's LDAP Directory Service settings, do the following:
- Open Mail. It is located in the Dock or in the Applications folder on the hard drive.
- Click Mail > Preferences…
- Click Composing tab.
- Under Addressing: click Configure LDAP…
- Select +
- Enter the following information:
- Name:
ISU LDAP - Server:
dspublic.ilstu.edu - Port:
389 - Search Base:
ou=People, o=IllinoisState, dc=ILSTU, dc=EDU - Under Authentication:, leave the User name and Password fields empty.
- Click Save to save your LDAP settings.
- Name:
Mail is now configured to search the University’s LDAP server.
