Installing the MailVPN email profile for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad

Install the MailVPN email profile to configure your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad device for for access to the campus mail server at Illinois State University.

Before You Begin

Download the MailVPN email profile using iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad to configure your device for use with the campus mail server. This will allow you to check and send email using your device.

You must complete these instructions using Safari on iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad.

Install MailVPN Email Profile for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad

To install the MailVPN profile for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad do the following:

  1. Launch Safari on iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad.
  2. Using Safari, download the MailVPN profile.
    • You must use Safari on iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad to download and install the VPN profile.
    • You can browse to this download by going to the Help Desk home page at http://helpdesk.illinoisstate.edu/. Then click Downloads > MailVPN Email Profile > Download MailVPN Email Profile for iPhone//iPad/iPod Touch.
  3. Safari will close and you will see a window named Install Profile.
  4. Press the Install button.
  5. A message will appear which says, Unverified Profile: The authenticity of "Unix Mail" cannot be verified. Installing this profile will change the settings on your iPhone. Click Install Now.
  6. If you have a passcode set on iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad, enter it when prompted.
  7. Enter your full name in the box labeled, Enter your full name for the email account "Illinois State University."
  8. Press Next.
  9. Enter your email address in the box labeled Enter your email address on "Illinois State University."
  10. Press Next.
  11. Enter your username, which is your ULID, in the box labeled Enter your username for the incoming mail server "Illinois State University."
  12. Press Next.
  13. Enter your password in the box labeled Enter your password for the incoming mail server "Illinois State University."
  14. Press Next.
  15. Enter your username, which is your ULID, in the box labeled Enter your username for the outgoing mail server "Illinois State University."
  16. Press Next.
  17. You will see a message that says, Profile Installed.
  18. Press Done.

Your device is now configured with MailVPN email settings. You can now check and send email on your device.
