Understanding caller ID on your VoIP phone
Your VoIP phone offers caller ID, a feature which displays the phone number and name of incoming calls on your phone’s screen.
Caller ID displays the phone number of incoming calls on your VoIP phone. It might also display the caller's name or organization, depending on how the caller's phone is set up and where the call originated.
Incoming Calls
Caller ID on your VoIP phone will handle incoming calls as described below:
- On-Campus Calls: When you receive a call from another campus phone, the caller’s five-digit phone number is displayed along with the associated name or department. Some campus phones do not have an associated name or department.
- Off-Campus Calls: When you receive a call from an off-campus phone or a mobile phone, the caller’s ten-digit phone number is displayed.
Outgoing Calls
When you make calls from your VoIP phone, your campus phone number is displayed on the recipient's caller ID (if available).
