Configuring Windows Phone 7 with MailVPN mail settings
Configure Windows Phone 7 so you can check and send email with your university email account.
Configuring MailVPN Settings on Windows Phone 7
To configure Windows Phone 7 for Exchange, do the following:
- Do one of the following:
- If you have a tile named Email setup on the home screen, press Email setup. Then skip to step 6.
- Otherwise, follow the steps below.
- Swipe right on the home screen to view the app list.
- Press Settings.
- Press email & accounts.
- Press add an account.
- Press advanced setup.
- Enter your email address in the Email address field.
- Your email address is
yourULID@ilstu.edu.
- Your email address is
- Enter your password in the Password field.
- Press next.
- You will be prompted to choose the kind of account you want to set up. Press Internet email account.
- Change your account name from Ilstu to ISU Email. This will be the name of the live tile.
- Enter
mailvpn.ilstu.eduin the Incoming email server field. - Press on Choose an account type and select IMAP4.
- Enter your ULID in the User name box.
- Enter
mailvpn.ilstu.eduin the Outgoing (SMTP) email server field. - Press the advanced settings button.
- Put a check mark next to both Require SSL for incoming email and Require SSL for outgoing email.
- Press sign in.
Windows Phone 7 is now configured to check and send email with your university email account. Outlook will begin syncing your mail.
Troubleshooting
Outlook will begin syncing your mail immediately, even if you do not open the Outlook email client. You can watch this process by going back to Settings > email & account. Locate the "ISU Email" account that you just set up. You should see it processing new messages.
If there is a problem, you will see a message that says, Attention required, in red text. Press on the name of the account, ISU Email, for more information about the problem.
