Illinois State recommends against signing up for www.ultrinsic.com on the basis of the University's Appropriate Use Policy.
What is Ultrinsic.com?
Ultrinsic (www.ultrinsic.com) is a website that allows students to gamble on their future grades.
Do Not Sign Up for Ultrinsic.com
Illinois State recommends against registering on Ultrinsic.com because the site requires you to share your Illinois State ULID and password.
The Ultrinsic.com Terms of Service state:
"Access to School Account. By providing Ultrinsic with your username and password for your online school account, you authorize Ultrinsic to access the account and to view and record any information in your account."
This statement is in direct conflict with the University's Appropriate Use Policy.
You should NEVER share your ULID and password with a third-party website or any person. Doing so threatens the privacy, security, and integrity of your student records and Illinois State's computing systems.
Appropriate Use Policy
The University's Appropriate Use Policy states:
"Responsibility to Maintain Privacy of Passwords
Passwords associated with an individual’s ULID, or other University identifier, should not be shared without authorization. Compromised passwords may affect not only the individual, but also other ISU Information Technology Resources and Systems users."
If you have already registered for Ultrinsic.com and have provided your ULID and password, you should change your password and security question immediately. You should not provide Ultrinsic.com with your new password or any other account information related to Illinois State.
