The Tech Alerts website is where you will find information about current and upcoming outages, maintenance, and technology issues at Illinois State University.
On the Tech Alerts website you will find information about:
- Network maintenance and outages
- System maintenance and outages
- Phishing emails targeting Illinois State
- Viruses and other technology-related threats
Current and Upcoming Issues
The Tech Alerts website displays information about current and upcoming technology issues on campus.
If you are having a problem accessing a system, server, or service on campus, check the Tech Alerts website to see if you are dealing with an issue that's already been reported to the University Computer Help Desk.
If you don't see your issue on the Tech Alerts website, contact the Help Desk to report it. The Help Desk will assist you in troubleshooting the problem and depending on the nature of the issue, a new alert may be posted to the Tech Alerts website.

Phishing Emails
Phishing emails that target Illinois State are regularly posted to the Tech Alerts website. If you receive a suspicious email, especially one that asks you to "verify your account" or which asks you to send your password in email, please visit the Tech Alerts website before responding to the email or following its instructions.
If you have received a phishing email that has not yet been posted to the Tech Alerts website, please forward the phishing email to helpdesk@ilstu.edu. (Forwarding the message with full headers is preferred.) Once the Help Desk has received the phishing email, it will be posted to the Tech Alerts website.
Sign Up for Notifications
Sign up for Tech Alerts notifications to be immediately notified when new alerts and updates are posted to the Tech Alerts website.
- Email: Have email notifications sent to your Illinois State email address.
- SMS Text Messages: Have SMS text messages sent to your phone.

Download the Tech Alerts Gadget/Widget
Run the Tech Alerts gadget/widget on your desktop to stay up-to-date on technology alerts. When a new alert or update is posted to the Tech Alerts website, it is immediately displayed on your Tech News desktop gadget for Windows or TechNews desktop widget for Mac OS X.

Add Upcoming Tech Alerts to Your Calendar
You have the option of adding upcoming alerts to your calendar by downloading the associated .ICS file. Each upcoming alert has its own .ICS file. Network maintenance alerts may not have associated .ICS files until details about the maintenance time become available.
