Configuring "isunet" on BlackBerry
These instructions explain how to configure Blackberry OS 4.5 or later to connect to the "isunet" wireless network on campus.
Before You Begin
These instructions are for BlackBerry phones that support wireless and are running BlackBerry OS 4.5 (or later).
These instructions require you to access the Internet on your BlackBerry using either a data plan or an existing wireless connection to download a security certificate.
Configure BlackBerry
Configuring BlackBerry for "isunet" wireless involves two main steps.
- Step 1 - Import an Entrust certificate to your BlackBerry.
- Step 2 - Configure "isunet" on your BlackBerry.
Each of these steps are explained in detail below.
Step 1 - Import an Entrust certificate to your BlackBerry
To download the Entrust certificate for BlackBerry and install it to your device, do the following:
- Open your BlackBerry browser and go to http://helpdesk.illinoisstate.edu/downloads/.
- Click the link, Entrust Certificates for isunet Wireless.
- Select Entrust Certificate for isunet Wireless for BlackBerry.
- After selecting the certificate, you will be given a summary with options to View or Import at the bottom.
- Click the Import option.
- You may be asked to set a password for the certificate store. Enter a password if you are asked to do so. This is not the same as the password for your BlackBerry device. It will be used to control installing new certificates onto your BlackBerry. You must set a certificate store password to install the Entrust certificates onto your BlackBerry device.
- If you have previously set a password for the certificate store, you will be prompted to enter it. You must enter your certificate store password to install Entrust certificates onto your BlackBerry device.
- Click OK to allow the BlackBerry browser to access the Handheld Key Store.
- Click Yes to trust the certificate for Entrust.net Certification Authority (2048).
- You will be prompted to enter your key store password to access the Trusted Key Store.
The certificate is now imported onto your BlackBerry device.
Step - 2 Configure "isunet" on your BlackBerry
To configure "isunet" on your BlackBerry, do the following:
- Press the BlackBerry menu button.
- Click Options.
- If you don't see Options, press the BlackBerry menu button and click Show All.
- Click Wi-Fi.
- Press the BlackBerry menu button and click New.
- Click Scan for Networks. BlackBerry will begin scanning for wireless networks in your area.
- Click isunet from the list of wireless networks.
- Enter your ULID and password.
- Click None Selected next to CA Certificate.
- Scroll through the list of certificates and click Entrust Certification Authority (2048).
- This certificate may have a red X or question mark next to it. This is normal.
- Click Save.
- Enter
isunetas the Profile Name. - Click Next.
- You will see a message indicating success. Click Finish.
