Using the University Timeclock Who's Working gadget

Organizational Administrators using the University Timeclock can use the official Who's Working gadget to monitor their employees on their desktops in real-time.

Before You Begin

The University Timeclock "Who's Working" gadget is a tool for Windows Vista and Windows 7, which allows managers to see which employees are clocked in and working. For more information about the University Timeclock, contact the University Computer Help Desk.

Download and Install the "Who's Working" Gadget

To download and install the University Timeclock "Who's Working" gadget, do the following:

  1. Log in to University Timeclock by visiting https://timeclock.illinoisstate.edu.
    • Only authorized employees of Illinois State University can log in to University Timeclock.
  2. Click on the Admin tab in the top left corner of the screen.
  3. Click RSS Feed and Gadgets under Who's Working.
  4. Click Download for Windows Vista/Windows 7.
  5. Save the file to your desktop.
  6. Locate the file on your desktop and double-click on it.
  7. When prompted, click Install.

The gadget will automatically open. You must configure the "Who's Working" gadget for your organization.

Configure the "Who's Working" Gadget

To add your organization to the "Who's Working" gadget, you need to generate an RSS feed from within University Timeclock. Then, you will configure the gadget to use that RSS feed so you can see which employees are clocked in and working.

Step 1: Generate an RSS Feed

To generate an RSS feed for your "Who's Working" gadget, do the following:

  1.  Log in to University TImeclock by visiting https://timeclock.illinoisstate.edu.
    • Only authorized employees of Illinois State University can log in to University Timeclock.
  2. Click on the Admin tab in the top left corner of the screen.
  3. Click RSS Feed and Gadgets under Who's Working.
  4. Click Generate to generate a feed for your organization.

Step 2: Configure the Gadget with an RSS Feed

To configure your "Who's Working" gadget with the RSS feed you generated, do the following:

  1. Move your mouse over the "Who's Working" gadget and click the Options icon.
    • The Options icon looks like a wrench and becomes visible in the upper right corner of the gadget when you move your mouse over the gadget.
  2. Copy and paste your RSS feed into the box labeled, Feed URL:.
  3. Click Add Feed.
  4. Click OK.

The "Who's Working" gadget now displays the names and ULIDs of the employees in your organization who are currently clocked in. The locations where your employees are clocked in will also be displayed.

If you are a manager for multiple organizations that use University Timeclock, you can repeat the steps above to add multiple RSS feeds to the "Who's Working" gadget.
