Error: Clean Access Server is not available on the network

When you try to log in to the Cisco NAC agent, you get an error which prevents you from getting online.

Problem

When you connect to a campus network that uses Cisco NAC, the NAC agent pops up and prompts you to log in. However, after attempting to log in, you get the following error:

Clean Access Server is not available on the network.

You are unable to connect.

Solution

Internet Explorer needs to be in online mode (not offline mode). The Cisco NAC agent uses Internet Explorer to handle the log in to Clean Access Server.

Internet Explorer 7/8

To verify that Internet Explorer 7 or Internet Explorer 8 is in online mode, do the following:

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Click Tools and look through the menu to find Work Offline.
  3. If there is a check mark next to Work Offline, then click on Work Offline to remove the check mark.

Internet Explorer 6

To verify that Internet Explorer 6 is in online mode, do the following:

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Click File and look through the menu to find Work Offline.
  3. If there is a check mark next to Work Offline, then click Work Offline to remove the check mark.

After you have configured Internet Explorer to work in online mode, open the Cisco NAC agent and try logging in again.

More Information

Internet Explorer in offline mode is the most common cause of this error. However, there are other reasons you might get this error. If you have verified that Internet Explorer is not in offline mode, but you still receive the error when trying to log in to the Cisco NAC agent, contact the Help Desk for further assistance.
