Configuring LDAP Directory Service Lookup in Address Book in Mac OS X 10.6 and 10.7
Configure Address Book to use the University's LDAP electronic people directory.
Before You Begin
Configure the Mac OS X Address Book to use the University's LDAP people directory. You can then use Address Book to search for people at Illinois State University. These instructions are for Mac OS X 10.6 and Mac OS X 10.7.
Configure LDAP in Address Book
To configure Address Book to use Illinois State's LDAP Directory Service settings, do the following:
- Open Address Book. It is located in the Dock or in the Applications folder on the hard drive.
- Click Address Book > Preferences…
- Click the Accounts tab.
- Click the + (plus) button.
- Select LDAP under the Account type: drop down menu.
- Enter
dspublic.ilstu.eduin the Server address: field. Click Continue. - Enter the following information:

ISU LDAP - Search Base:
ou=People, o=IllinoisState, dc=ILSTU, dc=EDU - Click Create to save your settings.
- Description:
Address Book is now configured to search the University’s LDAP server.
