How to report a problem with a printer or print workstation in a computer lab that uses Pharos/uPrint
Computer Infrastructure Support Services (CISS) supports all printers and print workstations that use the Pharos/uPrint system.
Before You Begin
Many computer labs on campus use the Pharos/uPrint system to manage paid printing. If you are a manager or employee for one of those computer labs, you can report problems with the printer or print workstation by contacting the University Computer Help Desk.
Computer Infrastructure Support Services (CISS) supports all printers and print workstations that use the Pharos/uPrint system. The information in this article only pertains to computer labs that use the Pharos/uPrint system.
Basic Troubleshooting
Before reporting the problem, try the following:
- Reboot the printer (i.e. turn it off and turn it back on)
- Reboot the print workstation (i.e. shut it down and turn it back on)
If you are still having problems with the printer or print workstation, you can report the problem to the Help Desk.
Report a Problem with a Printer or Print Workstation
To report a problem with a printer or print workstation in a computer lab on campus, first verify that printing in the computer lab is handled by the Pharos/uPrint system. Then contact the Help Desk at 309-438-4357 or helpdesk@ilstu.edu.
Be sure to provide the following information:
- Your name and ULID
- Phone number where you can be reached
- Computer lab location (building and room)
- Indicate that the computer lab uses the Pharos/uPrint system
- A description of the problem
- The make and model of the printer
The Help Desk will create an Incident for this problem and will send it to ULABS in the campus trouble ticket system. A staff member will be sent to your computer lab location to troubleshoot and resolve the problem.
