Overview of CentralLogin
Some university websites use CentralLogin to handle authentication.
What is CentralLogin?
CentralLogin is a "single sign-on" authentication service used by some Illinois State University websites.
When you visit a site that uses CentralLogin, you will see a button that says, Sign in using CentralLogin. To log in using CentralLogin, do the following:
- Click the button that says, Sign in using CentralLogin.
- Enter your ULID and password.
- Click Sign in.
You are now logged in to CentralLogin.
CentralLogin Works on Multiple Sites at Once
Once you are logged in to CentralLogin on one site, you have access to all sites that use CentralLogin (without needing to log in again).
For example, if you log in to iCampus (which uses CentralLogin) and then go to RedbirdMail (which also uses CentralLogin), you will automatically have access without logging in again.
Logging Out of CentralLogin
When you log out of a site that uses CentralLogin, you may not be automatically logged out of any other sites you've accessed through CentralLogin. You should log out of each site separately.
After logging out of a site that uses CentralLogin, you may be prompted to log in again when visiting another site that uses CentralLogin.
Best Practice: Close All Browser Windows
To be sure you have completely logged out of all websites, you should close all browser windows when you are done and before you walk away from the computer. This is the "best practice" for logging out of websites.
Please note that closing a tab in your browser is not the same as closing your browser window itself. You must close all browser windows (not just tabs). For example, if you have three Firefox windows open, you must close all three Firefox windows to ensure that you have been completely logged out.
