Configure an Android device so you can check and send email with your university email account.

Before You Begin

  • Outgoing Mail Server Port: 465
  • Security/SSL: Accept or verify all certificates
  • Security/Password (SSL): Yes, Always
  • Security/Authentication: Yes, Auto, Automatic

If you have problems configuring your Android device with MailVPN settings, please stop by the Help Desk office in Julian Hall 115 for assistance.

  12. Under Account options, do the following:
    • Select how often you want Android to check for new email using the Email checking frequency menu. By default, Android will check for new mail every fifteen minutes.
    • If you want Android to send from this account by default, put a check mark in the box labeled, Send email from this account by default.
    • If you want Android to notify you when you get new email, put a check mark in the box labeled, Notify me when email arrives.
    • Press Next.
  13. Under Set up email, do the following:
    • If you want to give your account a name, such as ISU Email, enter it in the box labeled, Give this account a name (optional).
    • Enter your full name, as you would like it to appear on emails you send, in the box labeled, Your name (displayed on outgoing messages).
    • Press Next or Done.

You can now check and send email using Android. Because it is configured with MailVPN settings, you can access your email from off campus without an independent VPN connection.
