How to add the ISU Emergency Alert address to your Safe Senders list in Outlook and OWA

Add the ISU Emergency Alerts address to your Safe Senders list in Outlook 2007, Outlook 2010, Outlook 2011, and Outlook Web App (OWA) to prevent emergency emails from going to your Junk E-mail folder.

Before You Begin

The ISU Emergency Alert system will notify you immediately after an emergency which threatens life or safety is identified on campus at Illinois State University. An email notification is sent to your @ilstu.edu email address, even if you've never signed up for additional ISU Emergency Alerts notifications.

ISU Emergency Alert emails are sent from @everbridge.net. Everbridge is the name of the security company that is hosting the ISU Emergency Alert system for Illinois State.

To make sure ISU Emergency Alert emails are not incorrectly moved to your Junk E-mail folder, add @everbridge.net to your Safe Senders list. (In Outlook 2011, this is referred to as your Safe Domains list.)

Safe Senders in Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2010

To add @everbridge.net to your Safe Senders list in Outlook 2007 or Outlook 2010, do the following:

  1. Open Outlook 2007 or Outlook 2010.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • Outlook 2007: Click Tools > Options. Then click Junk E-mail....
    • Outlook 2010: Click Mail on the left side of the window. Then click Junk > Junk E-mail Options.
  3. Click the Safe Senders tab.
  4. Click the Add... button.
  5. Enter @everbridge.net in the box labeled, Enter an e-mail address or Internet domain name to be added to the list.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click Apply.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Click OK again.

You have now added the ISU Emergency Alert email domain to your Safe Sender list.

Safe Domains in Outlook 2011

To add @everbridge.net to your Safe Domains list in Outlook 2011, do the following:

  1. Open Outlook 2011.
  2. Click Tools > Junk E-mail Protection....
  3. Click the Safe Domains tab.
  4. Enter @everbridge.net in the box labeled, Safe Domains.
  5. Click OK.

You have now added the ISU Emergency Alert email domain to your Safe Domains list.

Safe Senders in OWA

To add @everbridge.net to your Safe Senders list in OWA, do the following:

  1. Go to https://owa.ilstu.edu/ and log in.
  2. Click Options > See All Options....
  3. Click Block or Allow.
  4. Enter @everbridge.net in the box labeled, Enter a sender or domain here.
  5. Click the green plus (+) icon to add @everbridge.net to the box below.
  6. Click Save in the lower-right corner of the window.

You have now added the ISU Emergency Alert email domain to your Safe Senders list.
