How to embed audio/video on a website from the media streaming server using object code

You can add embedded audio and video stored on the campus media streaming server to a website using object code.

Before You Begin

After uploading audio and video files to the media streaming server, you can add embedded audio or video to your website using object code.

To complete these instructions, you must have access to the HTML code for the website on which you want to add embedded audio or video. You must also have access to the campus media streaming server and have access to generate object code (as opposed to embedding audio/video using a web address). For more information, including details on gaining access to the media streaming server, refer to 1563: Overview of media streaming server.

These instructions require you to edit HTML code. If you need assistance making changes to HTML code on your website, please contact Institutional Web Support.

Embed Audio/Video on a Website Using Object Code

To embed audio/video on a website using object code, do the following:

  1. Map network drives to the media streaming server. (If you have access to both methods of media streaming, make sure you connect to the shared folder used for object code.) For instructions on how to map network drives to the media streaming server, refer to:
  2. Copy the audio/video files you want to stream into your shared folder on the media streaming server.
  3. Double-click on the file named _README.html.
  4. Click the drop-down menu labeled Select your media file: and choose the audio or video file you want to add to your website.
  5. Click Generate.
  6. Copy the object code that appears in the box.
  7. Now you need to paste that object code into HTML code of the web page on which you would like to add streaming audio or video.
