How to embed audio/video on your personal blog from the media streaming server
You can add embedded audio and video stored on the campus media streaming server to your personal blog at Illinois State University.
Before You Begin
You can embed audio and video into posts on your personal blog at Illinois State. Embedded audio and video files are actually hosted on another web server, but appear on your blog posts.
You can add streaming audio and video to your personal blog if it is stored on the campus streaming media server. You need to know the web address of the audio or video file you want to add before you can embed it on your personal blog. For more information, including details on gaining access to the campus media streaming server, refer to 1563: Overview of media streaming server.
You can also add streaming audio and video to your personal blog from some websites, like YouTube. For instructions on adding embedded audio or video from another website, refer to 1530: How to embed audio/video on your personal blog from another website.
Embed Audio/Video on Your Personal Blog
There are two steps to embedding audio or video on your personal blog. You must copy the web address of the audio or video you want to embed. Then you must paste that web address into the anarchymedia.media plug-in on your personal blog.
Copy the Web Address for Audio/Video From the Media Streaming Server
If you want to embed audio or video which you have uploaded to the campus media streaming server, you need to open the _README.html file found in your shared folder on the media streaming server. This _README.html file will help you determine the web address for your streaming audio or video.
To copy the web address for audio/video you want to add to your personal blog, do the following:
- Map network drives to the media streaming server. (If you have access to both methods of media streaming, make sure you connect to the shared folder used for streaming audio/video with a web address.) For instructions on how to map network drives to the media streaming server, refer to:
- Double-click on the file named _README.html.
- Click the drop-down menu labeled Select your media file: and choose the audio or video file you want to add to your personal blog.
- Click Generate.
- Copy the web address that appears in the box.
- To do this, highlight the entire web address in the box.
- Then right-click on the highlighted text and select Copy.
- Now you need to paste that web address into the anarchymedia.media plug-in on your personal blog.
- Do not copy any other files, text, or pictures until you complete the next step.
