Understanding ResNet registration and Cisco NAC on Mac OS X
ResNet registration is facilitated through Cisco Clean Access (CCA), also known as Cisco Network Access Control (NAC).
Cisco NAC Agent for Mac OS X
When you connect to ResNet, you must log in using the Cisco NAC agent. The Cisco NAC agent will check your computer to make sure it meets the Conditions of Access. For more information, refer to 1151: Conditions of Access.
Connect to ResNet
You must log in with your ULID and password and your computer must meet the Conditions of Access each time you connect to wired or wireless ResNet.
Each time you connect to ResNet, the Cisco NAC agent will check your computer as follows:
Step 1: Remove McAfee VirusScan or McAfee Security for Mac
The Cisco NAC agent will first check to see if you have a version of McAfee VirusScan, McAfee Virex, or McAfee Security for Mac installed. If so, you must remove it.
- Remediation: If you have a version of McAfee VirusScan, McAfee Virex, or McAfee Security for Mac installed, the Cisco NAC agent will prompt you to remove it. Click the Remediation button to launch a web page that explains how to download and run an uninstaller.
Step 2: Install and Update ClamXav
You must have ClamXav installed and up-to-date.
- Remediation: If you do not have ClamXav installed, the Cisco NAC agent will alert you that you are missing required software. You will be taken to a web page where you can download and install ClamAV. You also need to follow instructions on updating ClamXav.
