Creating multiple network guest accounts for "isu-guest" wireless

Faculty and staff can create guest network accounts for their visitors. Visitors may then access the "isu-guest" wireless network on campus.

Before You Begin

Faculty and staff at Illinois State may create network guest accounts for their visitors. Network guest accounts allow visitors to log in to the "isu-guest" wireless network.

You may create as many network guest accounts as necessary to accommodate your guests. You may create network guest accounts up to 14 days in advance. Network guest accounts are valid for up to seven days, but you may create a new one each time an old one expires.

You can create multiple network guest accounts at once, rather than one by one. This is useful for creating network guest accounts for visitors who will be attending a large event, such as conference.

You are responsible for the activities of those who use the network guest accounts you create. You should only create network guest accounts for people you trust.

Single or Multiple Guest Accounts

You will use the GuestNet website to create network guest accounts for your visitors. The instructions below explain how to create multiple network guest accounts at once. You can also create network guest accounts one at a time.

    • Seven days is the maximum duration for a network guest account.
    • If you attempt to define a period longer than seven days, you will receive the error, "The account duration is too long."
  7. Click Create Bulk Accounts.

You will be presented with a list of user names and passwords for the new network guest accounts.

Click the Email button for each account to have an email copy of this information sent to both you and that guest. You can also print an account's information by clicking Print button for that guest.

If you need to create more network guest accounts, you may do so now. If you are done, click Logout on the left.
