Using Microsoft Outlook 2007 to read RSS feeds

Subscribe to an RSS Feed in Outlook 2007

To subscribe to an RSS feed in Microsoft Outlook 2007, do the following:

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook.
  2. Click Tools > Account Settings...
  3. Click on the RSS Feeds tab.
  4. Click New....
  5. Type the address of an RSS feed into the box. For example: http://alerts.illinoisstate.edu/xml/
  6. Click Add.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Click Close.

The RSS feed to which you subscribed appears beneath RSS Feeds in the Mail section on the left side of your Outlook window.

Read an RSS Feed in Outlook 2007

To read an RSS feed to which you are subscribed, do the following:

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook
  2. Click Go > Mail to open the Mail section.
  3. Click the plus (+) sign next to RSS Feeds on the left.
  4. Select the desired RSS feed.
  5. Select an RSS article on the right to view its contents.
  6. Select an RSS feed beneath News & Blogs to see a list of RSS articles on the right.
