Connecting to "isu-public" wireless on Mac OS X
Visitors to campus can access "isu-public," an open wireless network available in Milner Library. These instructions are for Mac OS X 10.3, 10.4, and 10.5.
Before You Begin
The "isu-public" wireless network is available in Milner Library. Anyone can connect to the "isu-public" wireless network.
Connect to "isu-public" on Mac OS X
To connect to the "isu-public" wireless network with Mac OS X 10.3, 10.4, or 10.5, do the following:
- Click on the wireless symbol on the menu bar. This is the AirPort menu.
- If it's not already on, click Turn AirPort On.
- Select isu-public from the list of available wireless networks in the AirPort menu.
You are now connected to the "isu-public" wireless network.
Restrictions
The following restrictions apply to the "isu-public" wireless network:
- The "isu-public" wireless network is only available in Milner Library.
- The "isu-public" wireless network is open and unencrypted.
- You cannot connect to the campus VPN, but third-party VPN connections are allowed.
- You cannot access internal university resources, but you can access public resources. An internal resource is an Illinois State website or service that normally requires a VPN connection from off campus.
- Peer-to-peer (P2P) network traffic is blocked on all campus wireless networks.
