Connecting to "isu-public" wireless on Windows Vista
Visitors to campus can access "isu-public," an open wireless network available in Milner Library. These instructions are for Windows Vista.
Before You Begin
The "isu-public" wireless network is available in Milner Library. Anyone can connect to the "isu-public" wireless network.
Connect to "isu-public" on Windows Vista
To connect to the "isu-public" wireless network with Windows Vista, do the following:
- Click Start > Connect To. You will see a list of wireless networks in the area.
- Select public and click the Connect button.
- If you see the message, "isu-public is an unsecured network," click Connect Anyway.
- The message, "Successfully connected to isu-public," will appear.
- Click Close.
You are now connected to the "isu-public" wireless network.
Restrictions
The following restrictions apply to the "isu-public" wireless network:
- The "isu-public" wireless network is only available in Milner Library.
- The "isu-public" wireless network is open and unencrypted.
- You cannot connect to the campus VPN, but third-party VPN connections are allowed.
- You cannot access internal university resources, but you can access public resources. An internal resource is an Illinois State website or service that normally requires a VPN connection from off campus.
- Peer-to-peer (P2P) network traffic is blocked on all campus wireless networks.
