Uninstalling McAfee Virex 7.2 or 7.7 on Mac OS X

To uninstall McAfee Virex 7.2 or 7.7 for Mac OS X follow these instructions.

To uninstall McAfee Virex 7.2 or McAfee Virex 7.7 for Mac OS X, do the following:
  1. Quit Virex if it is running. Click Virex > Quit Virex.
  2. Download the uninstaller that corresponds to the version of Virex you want to remove:
  3. Double-click the Virex Uninstaller to unzip it. If you downloaded the uninstaller files with Safari, it may already be unzipped.
  4. Double-click Virex X.X Uninstall.command (where X.X is your version of Virex) to launch the uninstaller.
  5. A Terminal window will open and ask for your password. Type the administrator password for your computer and press Return.
  6. The uninstaller will remove Virex from your computer.
  7. When the uninstaller finishes, quit Terminal by clicking Terminal > Quit Terminal.
  8. Restart your computer.
McAfee Virex has now been removed from you computer.
