Configuring LDAP Directory Service Lookup in Address Book in Mac OS X 10.5 and 10.4
Configure Address Book to use the University's LDAP electronic people directory.
Before You Begin
Configure the Mac OS X Address Book to use the University's LDAP people directory. You can then use Address Book to search for people at Illinois State University.
These instructions are for Mac OS X 10.5 and Mac OS X 10.4. If you do not know what version of Mac OS X your computer is running follow these instructions, 1005: Determining the version of Mac OS X.
Configure LDAP in Address Book
To configure Address Book in Mac OS X 10.5 or Mac OS X 10.4 to use Illinois State's LDAP Directory Service settings, do the following:
- Open Address Book. It is located in the Dock or in the Applications folder on the hard drive.
- Click Address Book > Preferences…
- Click the + (plus) button.
- Click the LDAP tab.
- Enter the following information:
- Name:
ISU LDAP - Server:
dspublic.ilstu.edu - Search Base:
ou=People, o=IllinoisState, dc=ILSTU, dc=EDU - Port:
389 - In the Authentication area, leave the User name and Password fields empty.
- Click Save to save your LDAP settings.
- Name:
Address Book is now configured to search the University’s LDAP server.
