Setting a standard workday for your calendar in Outlook 2007, Outlook 2010, and Outlook 2011
Set up a standard workday for your calendar using Outlook 2007, Outlook 2010, and Outlook 2011.
Before You Begin
Your Exchange calendar in Outlook is set up to use the default workday, which runs from 8:00am to 5:00pm. You can change the workday so it reflects your actual work hours, such as 8:00am to 4:30pm.
In Outlook 2007, Outlook 2010, and Outlook 2011, when viewing your calendar by week or by day, your workday appears in white and non-working hours appear light blue.
Set Up a Standard Workday
To set up a standard workday in Outlook 2007, Outlook 2010, or Outlook 2011, do the following:
- Open Outlook.
- Do one of the following:
- Outlook 2007: Click Calendar on the left side of the window. Then click Tools > Options.... Then click Calendar Options....
- Outlook 2010: Click File > Options.
- Outlook 2011: Click Outlook > Preferences….
- Locate the start time and end time for the work day.
- Outlook 2007: This is located in the area labeled Calendar work week.
- Outlook 2010: This is located in the area labeled Work time.
- Outlook 2011: This located in Calendar.
- Change the start time and end time to reflect your standard workday.
- For example, change the start time to 8:00am and the end time to 4:30pm.
- Click OK. (You do not need to click OK in Outlook 2011)
- In Outlook 2007, you may need to click OK again.
The background colors on your calendar change to reflect your standard workday. The setting for your standard workday is reflected in Outlook Web App (OWA).
