Install Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack to enable compatibility with Office 2007/2008 file format
Install Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack to enable Office 2000, Office XP, and Office 2003 to open, edit, and save files in the Office 2007/2008 file format.
Before You Begin
By default, files saved in the Microsoft Office 2007/2008 file format are incompatible with previous versions of Office for Windows and Mac.
If you use an older version of Microsoft Office, install "Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats" so you can open, edit, and save files in the Office 2007/2008 file format.
This update is for Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Vista. To use this update, you must have Office 2000, Office XP, or Office 2003.
Download and Install Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack
To install the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Windows, do the following:
- If you have Office XP or Office 2003, you must install all High-Priority updates from Microsoft Update before downloading the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack.
- Download and install the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack. Detailed system requirements and installation instructions are available on Microsoft's download page.
- After installing the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack, you can use Office 2000, Office XP, and Office 2003 to open, edit, and save files in the Office 2007/2008 file format.
