Adding holidays to your calendar in Outlook

Add holidays to your Exchange calendar using Outlook 2007, Outlook 2010, and Outlook 2011.

Before You Begin

You can add holidays to your Exchange calendar in Outlook 2007, Outlook 2010, and Outlook 2011. The instructions below explain how to add both secular holidays, as well as religious holidays.

Add Holidays to Your Calendar

The steps for adding holidays to your calendar are different depending on the version of Outlook you are using.

Outlook 2007 or Outlook 2010

To add holidays to your Exchange calendar in Outlook 2007 or Outlook 2010, do the following:

  1. Open Outlook 2007 or Outlook 2010.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • In Outlook 2010, click File > Options. Then click Calendar on the left.
    • In Outlook 2007, click Tools > Options. Then click Calendar Options.
  3. Click Add Holidays....
  4. Put a check mark next to United States.
    • You may also want to put a check mark next to Christian Religious Holidays, Islamic Religious Holidays, and/or Jewish Religious Holidays.
    • Christmas and Easter are considered secular holidays (as well as religious), so they are added to your calendar when you choose United States without needing to also select Christian Religious Holidays.
  5. Click OK.
  6. When the holidays are finished being added to your calendar, click OK to close the Outlook Options window.

Outlook 2011

To add holidays to your Exchange calendar in Outlook 2011, do the following:

  1. Open Outlook 2011.
  2. Click File > Import....
  3. Select Holidays.
  4. Click the right arrow.
  5. Put a check mark next to United States.
    • You may also want to put a check mark next to Christian Religious Holidays, Islamic Religious Holidays, and/or Jewish Religious Holidays.
    • Christmas and Easter are considered secular holidays (as well as religious), so they are added to your calendar when you choose United States without needing to also select Christian Religious Holidays.
  6. Click the right arrow.
  7. Click Finish.

Outlook Web App (OWA)

OWA does not allow you to import holidays. However, once you have added holidays to your calendar using Outlook 2007, Outlook 2010, or Outlook 2011, they will appear on your calendar in OWA too.
