Resetting the Keychain in Mac OS X 10.3

Follow these instructions to reset your Keychain in Mac OS X 10.3.

Before You Begin

  • This procedure only works with Mac OS X 10.3.x.
  • The Keychain does not store account passwords. If you need to reset your account or login password, see 1076: How to reset an account password in Mac OS X.
  • This procedure deletes the passwords stored in the Keychain. There is no way to access these passwords without the Keychain master password.

Resetting the Keychain

  1. Double-click Macintosh HD > Users
  2. Double-click on the user name of the Keychain you want to reset.
  3. Double-click on Library.
  4. Delete the Keychains folder.
  5. Restart the computer. A new keychain will be created using the current User Account password.
