Adding the Help Desk search to Firefox and Internet Explorer

To provide quicker answers to your questions, you can add our Help Desk Knowledge Base search into Firefox and Internet Explorer.

Help Desk Search in Firefox and Internet Explorer

Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer utilize a new technology called OpenSearch. If you use either of these browsers, you can add search engines to the search bar built into the browser.We are offering a Help Desk Knowledge Base search plug-in to allow quick searching of our site. To use this plug-in, you must be running Firefox or Internet Explorer.

  1. Click on this link: Add the Help Desk Knowledge Base Search to your browser.
  2. When prompted, click Add.
  3. You can now select "Help Desk" from the search bar in your browser.

Troubleshooting

If you click on the link and nothing happens, you may be running an older version of Firefox or  Internet Explorer. To determine your browser version, click Help > About. You must be running Internet Explorer 7 (or higher) or Mozilla Firefox 2 (or higher).If you are running a compatible browser, you need to make sure JavaScript to allowed to run. To check your JavaScript settings in each browser, follow the directions below:Internet Explorer

  1. Click Tools > Internet Options.
  2. Click the Security tab and then the Custom level... button.
  3. Scroll down until you see Scripting and locate Active scripting.
  4. Place a check next to Enable.
  5. Click OK and then OK again.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Click Tools > Options...
  2. Click on the Content tab.
  3. Place a check in the box labeled Enable JavaScript.
  4. Click OK.
