Setting up or removing an email forward for your ULID email account

You may set up an email forward so any email sent to your ULID email account is automatically forwarded to another email address of your choosing.

Before You Begin

Illinois State University allows you to forward your email to another address of your choice. This is called an email forward. When you set up an email forward, new email sent to your University email address will be forwarded on. Email you have already received in your University email account will not be moved.

Exchange Access

If you are a Full Exchange user, you will be unable to set an email forward. To set an email forward, you must switch your account from Full Exchange to Exchange Calendar Only.

If you are an Exchange Calendar Only user, you will be unable to switch to Full Exchange while you have an email forward in place. To switch to Full Exchange, you must remove your email forward.

Set an Email Forward

  1. Go to http://helpdesk.illinoisstate.edu/.
  2. Click Account Management.
    • If you are not already logged in, click log in to manage your account and sign in to CentralLogin.
  3. Click Email Forwarding.
  4. Enter the email address to which you would like to have your email forwarded.
  5. Verify that the information is correct, and then click Save Changes.

Email sent to your University account will now be forwarded to the email address you specified in step 4 above.

Important: You should immediately test your email forward to make sure it works as expected. Send a new email to your University email address. After a moment, log in to your other email account (the one to which you've forwarded your University email) and verify that you received the message. For more information, see

Remove an Email Forward

  1. Go to http://helpdesk.illinoisstate.edu/.
  2. Click Account Management.
    • If you are not already logged in, click log in to manage your account and sign in to CentralLogin.
  3. Click Email Forwarding.
  4. Put a check mark in the box labeled Remove my email forward.
  5. Click Save Changes.

After removing your email forward, you will once again receive email with your University email account.
