How to scan your computer with AIMFix
If you use AOL Instant Messenger and you are experiencing problems with pop-ups, spyware, or other malware, you should scan it with AIMFix.
Before You Begin
AIMFix is an anti-virus tool that can find and remove viruses that spread through AOL Instant Messenger (AIM).
There are several steps you should take when cleaning an infected computer. Before running AIMFix, we recommend you review all the steps involved. Refer to 1550: How to scan and clean an infected computer.
Scan Your Computer with AIMFix
Use AIMFix to scan your computer for AIM-related viruses.
Download AIMFix
To download AIMFix, do the following:
- Download AIMFix.
- AIMFix is not installed like a normal application. Do not double-click on AIMFix until you read the information below.
Scan Your Computer
To scan your computer with AIMFix, do the following:
- Double-click the AIMFix icon to run AIMFix.
- AIMFix will open a DOS window and will immediately begin scanning your computer for AIM-related viruses. Any viruses it finds will be automatically removed.
- When AIMFix is finished, press Enter to close the window.
- Restart your computer.
