Setting up voice mail for the first time

Before you can use your voice mail, you must set it up.

Before you Begin

Voice mail is a service associated with office phones on campus. Before you can use voice mail on a new phone installation, it must be configured by Telecommunications & Networking. Afterward, you should set up your voice mail by providing a recorded name and personal greeting.

By default, your voice mail security code is 0000. When you set up your voice mail, you will be prompted to change it to something personal and secret.

Set Up Your Voice Mail

To set up your campus voice mail for the first time, do the following:

  1. From your campus phone, dial 8-3000.
  2. Enter your voice mail security code when prompted.
    • The default voice mail security code is 0000.
    • When you are prompted to change your security code, enter a new code followed by the pound key (#). Your new security code can be between four and fifteen digits.
  3. You are prompted to record your name. To record your name, press 2 to start recording and speak your name.
    • To stop recording, press 2 again.
    • To review the recording, press 6.
    • To start over and record your name again, press 4.
    • To save your recorded name, press 5.
  4. You are prompted to record a personal greeting. To record a personal greeting, press 2 to start recording and speak your personal greeting.
    • To stop recording, press 2 again.
    • To review the recording, press 6.
    • To start over and record your personal greeting again, press 4.
    • To save your personal greeting, press 5.
  5. After you have saved your recorded name and personal greeting, you may hang up.

You have completed the voice mail setup for your campus phone.
